Mattari is a Japanese word for that particular quality of easy, unhurried relaxation, the kind that involves no ambitions beyond being comfortable — and NB Co.'s Mattari Animals series captures it beautifully.
The Long-tailed Tit enjoys a café visit by day and a candlelit room by night. The Flying Squirrel settles into a warm, cosy interior surrounded by soft things. The Penguin reads in his study by lamplight. Each animal is illustrated in the sort of scene you would quite like to be in yourself, printed on crepe paper with gold foil accents that catch the light warmly.
